Frequently asked questions
What file formats are supported?+
Standard pcap and pcapng files. These are the formats produced by Wireshark, tcpdump, tshark, and most other packet capture tools.
Is my capture data sent to your servers?+
Yes. Analysis runs as a background job on our servers, so your capture is uploaded when you submit it. It stays in the processing queue until the job is cleared automatically -- 24 hours after it completes, or 7 days if it failed -- and is then permanently deleted. The results (metrics, timelines, and the report) are saved to your account so you can revisit them, but the capture file itself is not kept beyond that window. Captures can contain call audio and caller identities, so upload only files you are authorized to share. See our privacy policy for full detail.
How large a capture file can I analyze?+
The analyzer works well with captures up to around 100MB. Larger files may cause the browser tab to use significant memory. For very large captures, filter the pcap to the relevant time window before uploading.
What metrics does the analyzer calculate?+
Per-stream jitter, packet loss, sequence gaps, MOS estimates, R-factor scores, burst/gap loss ratios, and codec identification. SIP dialog mapping shows the signaling lifecycle for each call.
Can I analyze non-VoIP traffic?+
The analyzer is purpose-built for VoIP. It looks for SIP signaling and RTP media streams. Non-VoIP packets in the capture are ignored.
